Spunky Emu Does “Zoomies” Around The Yard
One of the best parts about being around animals is seeing how unique their personalities are. Some are calm, some are sassy, and some are full of spunk! Growing up, my cousin had three of the same breed of dog. Despite being the same breed, they had their own personalities and one, in particular, loved to do zoomies. It’s not that uncommon for dogs to do zoomies, but have you ever seen an emu do zoomies before? Gabby...

Senior Dog Surrendered For Being “Too Old” Finds A Loving Home To Live Out His Golden Years
A lot of people bring puppies or young dogs into their homes with enthusiasm and joy. Puppies are so adorable and easy-going most of the time, even though they require a ton of work. All puppies grow into dogs eventually though, and that’s not something everyone accounts for. As a result, a lot of pet owners end up abandoning their dogs when the going gets tough. They may not realize how much work a dog requires, or they simply no longer want the responsibility of a dog when they’re no longer an adorable puppy. Photo:...

India Deploys Guard Dogs To Protect Newly-Introduced Cheetahs From Poachers
In a historic move, authorities in India have deployed a pack of dogs in a national park to protect newly-introduced cheetahs from poachers. According to USA Today, cheetahs used to be widespread in India, but they became extinct in the 1950s due to poaching. While it’s been some 70 years since cheetahs roamed freely in India, authorities have imported African cheetahs in hopes of restoring...
Pet Owner Gets Tattoo Of Dead Dog Using Ink Mixed With His Ashes
When we welcome a dog into our home, they become a part of the family for as long as they’re around. When we have a puppy, we hope to spend some 8-15 years with them before they cross the rainbow bridge, but sometimes, our time together is cut short. 27-year-old Robyn Moscrop recently experienced a heartbreaking loss when her 3-year-old Bull Terrier, Bronson, passed away back in 2019. Photo: Wikimedia Commons The dog’s death was sudden and unexpected, which only made the loss that much more painful. To commemorate Bronson, Robyn...
Goats Return to Calgary’s Nose Hill Park to Help Environment
In an effort to aid the environment, a herd of 260 goats was brought back to Calgary, Canada’s Nose Hill Park to graze on grass and vegetation in the Rubbing Stone Hill section. The animals will feast on grassland for 30 days with the idea that they’ll reduce invasive species and dead vegetation, which will hopefully lead to the opening of stretches for wildflowers to begin growing. The animals are said to have been grazing in the Nose Hill area since 2016, and the City of Calgary notes that it isn’t merely their teeth that...

Félicette, the First (and only) “Catstronaut” in Space
Early space exploration wasn’t initially manned by humans. We often hear about the chimps and even the little dog from Russia, Laika, who became one of the first animals to go into orbit. But we seldom hear about the first cat in space, a stray Parisian kitty with black and white fur. So what’s her story? It’s actually kind of sad, so grab your Kleenex box and get ready to dab your eyes, because it’s going to be a bumpy flight. Dog Alerts Mom To Toddler Opening Gate And Escaping The Yard
Some people say dogs are man’s best friend, but others consider them to be more that, like guardian angels. It’s true that there have been many stories of dogs stepping into save their owners or even strangers, including recently when a small toddler wandered away from the house and toward the road. The incident occurred in Casilda, a small township in Argentina, and it was captured on video by the home’s security cameras.
