Sick Puppy Found Under A Bridge Is Looking For Her Forever Home
A 4-month-old puppy was found under a bridge, sick and hopelessly clinging to life. But thanks to a Good Samaritan, she’s now thriving and looking for her forever home. When a passerby saw the small puppy under the bridge in Greece, they didn’t have the heart to leave her. She had visible skin issues and looked helpless and hopeless. So, they called DAR Animal Rescue to help. When rescuers with DAR Animal Rescue arrived, they found the little dog under the bridge where they were told she’d be. They scooped her up and...
Dog Who Couldn’t Walk As A Puppy Learns To Prance Around With Style
A special needs dog named Fenix Lumiere struggled to walk as a puppy without falling over, but now he prances about everywhere like an absolute rockstar. Fenix’s owners shared with ViralHog that he was diagnosed with Cerebellar Hypoplasia, a condition that affects coordination and balance. While some dogs with that condition struggle to walk or balance, Fenix has found a way to use it to his advantage by strutting around in style. Dog Rescued Two Weeks After Falling Into 30-Foot-Deep Cave
A dog in Indiana was rescued and reunited with its owner after falling into a 30-foot-deep cave and spending two weeks there. Recreational repellers at the Dewey Hickman Nature Preserve happened to notice an animal at the bottom of a cave and got closer to investigate. What they found was a half-starved black and white dog trapped at the bottom! Thankfully, they had the gear to repel the 30 feet down and help the poor dog. Once they got to the bottom, they were able to reach the dog and safely get him out of the deep cave....
Last Chance to keep APA! in the Heart of Austin
Oct 07, 2021 Today is the last day for our City Council to decide if the work we do for the City of Austin, keeping it a No Kill city by taking all animals who would be euthanized at the Austin Animal Center, is worth the use of one acre of land at Town Lake Animal Center. We believe No Kill needs to be front and center in Austin. We believe APA! should be kept in the heart of Austin, showing every other city in our nation that eliminating the killing of pets in our shelter is important to our city, our city council, and to every Austinite....

We Need Government Animal Services That Work
Oct 06, 2021 There is one day left before we know whether the city council has taken action on our APA! Resolution by adding it to the next city council meeting agenda. What keeps rising to the top of criticism of our resolution from council offices is that they don’t understand why Austin Pets Alive! should be allowed to help communities outside of the greater Austin metro area. They see and hear about animals having long lengths of stay at Austin Animal Center(AAC) and the kennels being overcrowded there. Some believe that Austin Pets...

Idaho Police Officer Helps Rescue Owl Trapped In Plastic On Busy Highway
There are over a dozen owl species that call Idaho home, including the Great Horned Owl. The raptors are easy to identify with their long tufts of feathers that resemble ears. They are commonly seen across the state, but rarely on the median of a busy highway. Idaho State Police (ISP) received multiple calls from concerned commuters on I-84 in Nampa about a Great Horned Owl trapped in plastic. Dispatchers called wildlife rescue, Animals in Distress, for help and sent Sgt. Brandalyn Crapo to the scene. “Traffic is very heavy on that...
